Building opportunity in place: next steps for individual and community capacity building (August lunch)

Most citizens are aware of social problems in our community, but few have the knowledge and experience in development of successful strategies to improve the lives of those who suffer disadvantage.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence in Melbourne is widely recognised as an effective welfare organisation whose programs emphasise development of individual capability. At the August lunch, Conny Lenneberg , the Executive Director of the BSL, will present her ideas about effective ways to remedy social disadvantage. It is a vision that eschews more traditional welfare approaches to focus on capacity building. Join us for what promises to be a hopeful discussion of ways to solve serious problems in our community.

Conny Lenneberg was appointed as Executive Director of the Brotherhood of St Laurence in January 2018. She has 25 years’ experience in the development and social justice sectors in Australia and internationally, including with World Vision and with Indigenous communities in northern Australia. Conny has an MA and honorary doctorate from LaTrobe University.
