WHY ENVIRONMENT REFORM IS ESSENTIAL TO LABOR’S AGENDA FOR GOVERNMENT (February Lunch)
For our first lunch for 2018, the John Cain Foundation will be hosting a talk with Felicity Wade, the national convenor of the Labor Environment Action Network (LEAN).
LEAN has been a game changer within Labor, successfully delivering policy through activism by party members. LEAN prosecuted and won the campaign for Labor to adopt credible emission reduction targets as well as the commitment to 50% renewable energy by 2030.
LEAN is currently campaigning within the ALP for Environment Laws for the 21st Century – Stronger, Smarter, Simpler.
The aim is to get the ALP to make a priority commitment in its 2018 policy platform to create new environment laws. and to establish a well resourced independent public agency for the environment – within its first term of Government.
Felicity Wade was CEO of NSW Wilderness Society for more than a decade and has been central to many major environment campaigns, including forestry reform and the regulation of land clearing.
