The March lunch considered ways in which climate change is already affecting Melbourne
Climate change is a wicked problem. A well known writer and publisher, Sophie Cunningham, has been thinking and writing about this problem, in particular how it is affecting Melbourne. She led a discussion of what damage is already evident and what is likely to occur over time if changes in climate are not arrested.
Sophie Cunningham is a former publisher and editor, the author of two novels, Geography (2004) and Bird (2008) and three books of non-fiction, Melbourne (2011), Warning: The Story of Cyclone Tracy (2014) and City of Trees: Essays on Life, death and the need for a forest (2019). She is a former editor of Meanjin, and was, from 2011 to 2014 Chair of the Literature Board of the Australia Council. She is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University in the School Media and Communication in the College of Design and Social Context.
