2018 PROGRAM FOR MONTHLY LUNCHES
Many of our supporters enjoy the stimulation and fellowship of the monthly lunches so it is with regret that I have to advise that an unavoidable problem has forced our speaker for the March lunch to cancel. We will reschedule that event – more later.
The program for the remainder of the year is strong. On 18th April Professor Shelley Mallett will explain the radical proposal for a Basic Income for all Australians. The third Wednesday in May features Marion Terrill from the Grattan Institute with another controversial reform proposal, this time to reduce congestion in our city.
For now, see below a link to a comprehensive article on strategic reform of school education, in particular the role of the Federal Government. It takes the form of a letter to Hon Tanya Plibersek, Shadow Minister for Education, and is written by recognised expert policy analyst Dean Ashenden, Hon Fellow at Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne. The article appeared in a recent edition of Inside Story, an authoritative e-journal produced by Swinburne University.
